About Us

Our Story

From a Single Idea to a Shared Movement

One Union was created by high school students who noticed the striking disparities in music education. While our founders had access to private lessons, new instruments, and supportive instructors, others around them had none of these resources. The differences in musical opportunity were clear, and we couldn't ignore them.

In 2023, we founded One Union with a simple idea: that every child deserves the joy and opportunity of learning music, regardless of background.

What started as a grassroots effort has become a growing movement to provide free, high-quality music instruction to underserved youth everywhere.

Our Mission

Bridging the Music Education Gap

At One Union, we believe talent should never be limited by circumstance. Our mission is simple: to make music education accessible and empowering for every child. We use music as a bridge to opportunity, self-expression, and confidence. Through free, high-quality mentorship and a welcoming community, we aim to help young students discover not just how to play, but who they can become. Because music isn't just an art, it's a path forward.

Who We Serve

Kids With Big Potential but Limited Access

We work with children through schools, community centers, after-school programs, church groups, and more. Children who have the passion to learn, but are often overlooked in traditional music programs. They're curious, creative, and full of potential, yet many are first-time musicians. We're here to make sure they have the tools to thrive.

Why it Matters

More Than Just Music

At One Union, we teach more than notes and rhythm. We teach confidence, focus, and self-expression. For our students, music isn't just a hobby; it's a tool for growth. Learning music is often a first step in finding your own voice and feeling seen. In communities where access to the arts is limited, music education represents a powerful form of equity. Through our free lessons, we hope to reverse structural inequalities and plant the seeds for a lifelong connection to music and self-belief.

Fundraising

We fundraise through a combination of individual donations, local partnerships, grant applications, and student-led events.

Our student-led fundraising efforts center around benefit concerts and community performances. These events not only raise essential funds, they also showcase the talent of our volunteers.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, every dollar we raise goes directly toward instruments and materials for our students.
